£475 per day (inside IR35)

We're currently supporting an organisation based Sheffield who require an experienced DevOps Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing, automating, and optimising cloud-native platforms within a highly regulated enterprise environment. Responsible for driving DevOps best practices, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and Kubernetes-based deployments across Google Cloud, helping to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support scalable cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud (GCP).
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting languages.
  • Manage and optimise Kubernetes (GKE) environments, Docker containers, and Helm deployments.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
  • Implement DevSecOps practices, integrating security and code quality tools into delivery pipelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and automation.
  • Monitor and optimise platform performance using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and AppDynamics.
  • Support hybrid cloud environments and ensure robust networking and security controls are in place.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and pipeline-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and best practice adoption.

Experience Required

  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GKE, and Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in Docker, Helm Charts, and containerised deployments.
  • Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong knowledge of Jenkins CI/CD, Groovy pipelines, Git, and branching strategies.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps tooling including SonarQube, Checkmarx, and container security scanning.
  • Solid Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Datadog, Grafana, and AppDynamics.
  • Knowledge of networking, firewalls, and enterprise DevOps operating models.
  • Experience supporting applications across hybrid and public cloud environments.

Desirable

  • GCP, CKA, or CKAD certifications.
  • Experience with CloudSQL and Memorystore.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking and API platforms.
  • SRE background and experience working within Agile delivery environments.
