Senior Designer

Senior Designer (UX/UI Lean)

Permanent

Bristol (hybrid)

Typical experience: 5+ years

About the role:

This is a senior design role with a strong emphasis on UX and UI decision-making within complex digital systems.

At Narwhal Group, this role is about making systems understandable, predictable and safe to use. Visual quality matters, but the primary focus is on interaction, structure and long-term usability rather than brand or campaign work.

This role suits someone who enjoys untangling complexity and shaping interaction patterns that scale over time.

What you will work on:

• Owning UX and UI across product and internal systems

• Shaping user flows, interaction models, information architecture and interface patterns

• Anticipating edge cases, failure states and user misunderstandings

• Working closely with engineering to ensure solutions are robust and grounded in real constraints

• Working across product systems, internal tools, brand and communication surfaces as needed

What we are looking for:

We care more about how someone thinks, communicates and handles ambiguity than about specific tools, titles or visual styles. This is not a trend-driven or portfolio-polish-focused environment.

We are looking for someone who:

• Demonstrates strong UX and UI judgement grounded in real system behaviour

• Thinks in flows, states and consequences rather than screens alone

• Is comfortable working with ambiguity and complexity

• Partners effectively with engineering on constraints and implementation

• Helps others improve their thinking around usability and interaction

What success looks like

Interfaces feel calm, clear and predictable. Users make fewer mistakes. Design decisions continue to hold up as the system grows in complexity.

Nice to have

• Experience designing complex or technical products

• Strong understanding of interaction patterns and interface systems

• Exposure to AI-driven systems, data-informed design or automation
