Head of Product Development

About the Company

Energy is one of the defining industries of our time. It sits at the centre of economic performance, infrastructure resilience, sustainability, and the future of technology. At Nationwide Utilities, we work at that intersection helping major organisations make smarter, more commercially effective, and more forward-thinking energy decisions. We support clients ranging from data centres and infrastructure-heavy businesses to large multi-site organisations with increasingly complex operational and procurement needs. But we are not simply building a consultancy. We are building the next layer beneath it. We are creating OASIS the Online Automated Site Information System a platform designed to fundamentally change the way users interact with technology in energy management.

About the Role

We are now looking for a Product Lead to help turn that vision into a structured, coherent and scalable product. This is not a conventional product role. It is not about inheriting a mature backlog or operating within a large product function. It is about working closely with the founder and leadership team to extract knowledge, shape product logic, connect workflows, and help build a platform that could become genuinely category-defining.

Responsibilities

  • Product Structuring: Work closely with the founder and leadership team to extract product thinking, define workflows, and translate complex ideas into a clear product structure.
  • Vision to Execution: Help turn the OASIS vision into practical product logic, user journeys, priorities and functional requirements.
  • Platform Design: Contribute to the design of a connected platform spanning procurement, billing, consumption, management and related workflows, ensuring the experience remains coherent as capability expands.
  • User-Centred Product Development: Think carefully about how different stakeholders interact with the platform, including finance teams, procurement teams, billing users, operational users and strategic decision-makers.
  • Requirements & Prioritisation: Define and document what should be built, in what order, and why balancing immediate opportunities with long-term platform integrity.
  • Founder Collaboration: Work closely with Alex and the internal team to structure ideas already developed through client experience and market knowledge, rather than starting from a blank sheet of paper.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work with developers and technical contributors to ensure that product requirements are clear, realistic, well-structured and commercially useful.
  • Workflow & System Thinking: Help shape how data, automation, AI support, validation and human oversight work together inside the platform.
  • Product Cohesion: Prevent fragmentation by making sure that new functionality strengthens the overall operating model rather than creating disconnected tools or one-off solutions.
  • Client Insight: Draw on real client needs, live projects and market opportunities to ensure the platform solves meaningful problems rather than theoretical ones.

Qualifications

You are likely to be someone who has already worked with complex platforms, systems or operational products and wants a role with more substance, more ownership and more proximity to meaningful decision-making. You may currently be working as a Product Manager, Senior Product Manager, Product Lead, Solutions Architect, Business Analyst with strong product instincts, or in a similar systems-focused role.

Required Skills

  • B2B software or platform products
  • Workflow-led or data-rich systems
  • API or integration-heavy environments
  • Commercial, operational or infrastructure-related software
  • Product roles involving complex real-world processes rather than simple consumer applications

Preferred Skills

An understanding of energy would be helpful, but it is not the only route into the role. A strong systems mind, commercial instinct, and the ability to translate complexity into something buildable are likely to matter more.

Pay range and compensation package

Basic salary: £75,000–£95,000 per year, depending on experience and capability.

Growth Shares: Company share scheme to be discussed.

Location: Kensington, London, W14.

Hours: Full-time.

Work pattern: In person preferred.

Equal Opportunity Statement

This role will not suit someone looking for a narrow product function, a highly structured corporate environment, or a platform that has already been fully defined. It will suit someone who wants to help build something ambitious. Someone who wants to work on a platform that is trying to move an industry from fragmented, data-heavy, manually assembled workflows towards a more intelligent, connected and action-led model.

If that sounds like the kind of challenge you have been looking for, we would like to hear from you.
