Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated Digital Engagement and Project Lead to join our Digital, Systems and Insight Team. In this key role, you'll work closely with services to identify digital needs, lead projects from design to delivery, and champion the adoption of innovative solutions that improve outcomes for staff and service users. You'll act as the bridge between clinical teams and digital colleagues, ensuring technology is practical, accessible, and sustainable. With strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills, you'll help drive meaningful change, support service transformation, and embed a culture of digital inclusion. Job description
Job responsibilities
Act as the key link between clinical services and digital teams, ensuring solutions meet user needs.
Lead service-scoping and discovery work, championing adoption of digital tools and ways of working.
Manage end-to-end digital projects, using recognised project management approaches to deliver on time and within scope.
Communicate effectively with staff at all levels, translating technical information into clear, accessible messages.
Build strong working relationships across services and with external partners.
Support the prioritisation of development tasks and alignment with wider digital programme plans.
Evaluate the success of digital initiatives, embedding sustainable processes and sharing learning.
Develop implementation plans, roadmaps, reporting and benefits tracking.
Ensure compliance with NHS and organisational standards on information governance, cyber security and digital accessibility.
Work collaboratively with service users, membership teams and co-production groups to ensure digital solutions reflect lived experience and feedback.
Produce project documentation, progress reports and benefits realisation summaries.
Contribute to continuous service improvement through engagement activities, research and evaluation.
Deputise for senior digital leaders as required and provide supervision or support to colleagues.
Person Specification
Knowledge
- Knowledge of digital project lifecycle
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (including Visio)
- Knowledge of NHS clinical applications and Electronic Patient Records
- Passionate about digital inclusion and empowerment
- Understanding of NHS governance (IG, Data Protection, Equality Act)
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience; Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 or Agile)
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Professional leadership qualification
- Professional Registration (e.g FedIP)
Experience
- Experience in a similar role, leading digital or transformation projects
- Staff supervision or line management
- Experience in change management
- Proactive and relationship-driven and able to deal with conflict
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
- Project management
- Committed to continuous improvement
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Strong analytical, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Attention to detail
- Ability to travel to local sites independently
- NHS or health/social care experience
- Experience working in or with analytics, data warehouse or software teams
- Experience in Quality Improvement Methodologies
