Contract Cyber Security Architect

Rate: £650 to £750 p d

Clearance: SC or DV required

Location: Hybrid with some client site time

Ncounter are supporting a leading consultancy delivering major programmes across Defence and Central Government. We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Architect who can shape and assure secure solutions across complex environments, engaging directly with programme teams, technical leads, and senior stakeholders.

You will take ownership of security architecture deliverables, ensuring designs are robust, compliant, and aligned to recognised standards. This role suits someone who can confidently guide teams, interpret risk, provide pragmatic advice, and move programmes forward with clear, evidence based security direction.

What you will be doing

• Define, review, and assure security architectures across large scale systems and multi supplier environments.

• Produce and maintain security documentation such as RMADS, patterns, policies, and technical guidance.

• Advise on design decisions, secure configuration, and risk treatments across cloud and on premise solutions.

• Engage with stakeholders at all levels and present complex security topics in a clear and concise way.

• Support accreditation activity and ensure alignment to standards including NCSC, ISO27001, NIST, and relevant HMG frameworks.

What you will bring

• Strong experience in cyber security architecture within Defence, Government or similarly complex environments.

• Broad knowledge of identity, PKI, SIEM, vulnerability management, cryptography, firewalls, and protective monitoring.

• A background working in consulting environments with proven ability to influence, challenge, and advise.

• Clear written communication skills and confidence producing high quality architectural and assurance outputs.

• Active SC or DV clearance essential.
