AWS Platform Engineer

Salary: £75,000 – £90,000

Location: London (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

We’re partnering with a well-established organisation operating at the centre of a major UK financial technology ecosystem. Their platform supports collaboration between financial institutions, technology providers, and regulators, enabling secure data exchange and the development of innovative digital financial services.

As the platform continues to evolve, they are looking to bring in an AWS Platform Engineer to help design, build, and maintain the secure cloud infrastructure that underpins critical services used across the industry.

The Role

As a Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining a secure, highly available cloud platform. You will work closely with architecture, security, and engineering teams to automate infrastructure, improve reliability, and ensure the platform meets stringent security and regulatory requirements.

This role provides the opportunity to work on complex infrastructure challenges within a highly collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support engineering teams
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot platform issues
• Implement and maintain strong security practices across the infrastructure
• Work closely with architects and developers to align infrastructure with system design
• Produce and maintain documentation including runbooks and architecture diagrams
• Continuously improve platform performance, reliability, and operational processes

Technology Environment

• AWS
• Terraform
• CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub)
• Docker and Kubernetes / container orchestration
• Serverless infrastructure
• Security tooling such as WAF, IDS/IPS, and SIEM platforms

Experience Required

• Strong experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure environments
• Hands-on experience with AWS
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Good understanding of cloud security best practices
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Desirable Experience

• Experience working in regulated environments such as financial services, fintech, or similar sectors
• Exposure to large-scale or industry-wide technology platforms
• Programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python)
