Our client is expanding a newly created strategic technology function focused on building next-generation data intelligence products for global customers. This is a rare opportunity to join a greenfield engineering environment where innovation, autonomy, and modern engineering practices are encouraged from day one. Backed by the stability and investment of a major international analytics organisation, the team is operating with a start-up mindset to rapidly deliver scalable, data-driven products that solve complex commercial challenges for some of the world’s largest banking organisations.
The Senior Backend Engineer will play a critical role in designing and building a brand-new API-first data intelligence platform used by enterprise clients. You will help shape the engineering standards, backend architecture, infrastructure, and delivery principles that underpin a high-growth product built for scale, security, and performance.
The Senior Backend Engineer will:
• Design scalable backend systems (in Python or Golang) and API architecture for enterprise-grade products
• Build cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD environments
• Create secure, observable, and auditable systems for regulated financial clients
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and data engineering teams in a small high-impact squad
• Influence technical direction and establish engineering best practices from the ground up
You Will Need
The role requires:
• Strong backend engineering experience within API-first or data-heavy B2B platforms
• Expertise with Python or Go alongside modern cloud infrastructure tooling
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and automated deployment pipelines
• A strong understanding of observability, scalability, and system reliability principles
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools within development workflows
Why You’ll Love It
• Hybrid working with flexibility around office collaboration
• Private medical cover for you and your family
• Generous pension contributions and annual development allowance
• A low-politics engineering culture focused on quality delivery
• The opportunity to shape a greenfield platform with significant long-term impact
This opportunity would suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex backend challenges, building systems with longevity in mind, and working in an environment where speed, experimentation, and technical ownership are genuinely valued. You’ll have the chance to influence both the technical roadmap and the engineering culture while working alongside highly experienced product and data specialists.
