Network Infrastructure Engineer
We are looking for an experienced and technically accomplished Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and support of complex networking solutions across a diverse customer base.
This is a senior-level position for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of outcomes, and acting as the go-to expert for networking technologies. You will play a key role in delivering LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and Wi-Fi projects, from initial customer engagement and solution design through to implementation and ongoing support.
Working alongside project managers, service teams and fellow engineers, you will provide technical leadership, act as an escalation point for complex networking issues, and help shape best practices across the business.
This role offers a high degree of autonomy and is ideal for someone who enjoys making technical decisions, influencing standards, and staying at the forefront of networking technology.
What You'll Be Doing Project Delivery & Engineering- Lead the deployment and commissioning of complex LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and Wi-Fi solutions.
- Take ownership of technical delivery from design through to go-live.
- Perform fault diagnosis, repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Conduct site surveys and provide accurate technical information for project planning.
- Support customer relocations, upgrades and infrastructure changes.
- Carry out remote diagnostics, staging and configuration activities prior to deployment.
- Assist with large-scale project rollouts and phased delivery programmes.
- Provide technical handovers and user guidance where required.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex networking issues.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
- Develop and maintain technical standards, documentation and best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key technology vendors.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, certifications and product developments.
- Drive continuous improvement across network design, deployment and support processes.
- Design and lead complex networking solutions.
- Produce high-level and low-level design documentation (HLDs and LLDs).
- Define and maintain network reference architectures.
- Participate in customer discovery and technical scoping sessions.
- Identify technical risks and challenge requirements where appropriate.
- Provide accurate engineering estimates and technical input for project planning.
- Create implementation plans, technical documentation and solution diagrams.
- Proven experience in a Senior or Lead Network Engineer position.
- Strong background delivering complex LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and enterprise Wi-Fi projects.
- Experience creating HLD and LLD documentation.
- Excellent understanding of IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs and VPN technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki environments.
- Experience with Cisco Umbrella / Secure Internet Gateway (SIG).
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with VoIP and Unified Communications platforms.
- Knowledge of structured cabling and physical networking infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
- CCNA or equivalent networking certification strongly preferred.
- Cisco Meraki certifications (CMNA, ECMS or similar) desirable.
- Additional networking certifications advantageous.
- Ekahau Wi-Fi Survey and Analysis experience welcomed.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
