Job Description

We’re on the hunt for a dynamic, visionary, and innovative Smart Metering Client Delivery Partner to lead and partner with our client on delivering their smart metering programme. This role isn’t just about overseeing a programme of work – it’s about driving transformation, disrupting norms, and making a tangible impact for our communities as well as for one of the scarcest resources in the UK - water. If you’re an out-of-the-box thinker, a rapid learner, a master problem-solver, great collaborator, and not afraid of hard work, we want you on our team!

Your Mission

As one of our Smart Metering Client Delivery Partners, you will lead the delivery of our complex but extremely exciting multi-year AMI Smart Metering Programme. This initiative is pivotal in reducing water consumption and leakage, ultimately minimising our client's environmental footprint and financial costs. Your role will blend strategic leadership, hands-on management, and creative problem-solving to deliver unparalleled results.

In short, the programme consists of several streams to be completed by different in-house or sub-contracted teams:

  • Supply Smart Meters : Forecasting, coordinating, ordering and delivery of smart meters and other hardware from different suppliers on-time and to specification.
  • Connect Smart Meters : Forecast, coordinate and communicate the rollout of IoT network primarily based on LoRaWAN that connects smart meters and provides data as a service.
  • Integrating Technologies : Working collaboratively across different organisations, systems and technologies to ensure that there is integrated data flow between critical systems.
  • Management and Reporting : Overall coordination, planning, and reporting on key contractual and operational reports to ensure that targets are met on-time.

...and all the fun around those streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead with Vision: Inspire and guide a team of delivery professionals, SMEs, and third-party specialists in planning and executing the smart metering programme.
  • Drive Innovation: Oversee the development and implementation of the integrated programme plan. Ensure all workstreams are aligned, interdependencies are managed, and innovative solutions are embraced.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with colleagues, senior stakeholders and external partners. Your ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate will be essential in delivering this complex initiative.
  • Governance and Assurance: Establish robust governance frameworks and keep key stakeholders informed. Ensure that all programme outputs meet high-quality standards, are delivered on time, and stay within budget.
  • Financial Stewardship: Manage the programme's budget meticulously, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial efficiency and value for money.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks to ensure successful programme outcomes. Your proactive approach will be vital in navigating challenges and uncertainties.
  • Contract Delivery : Ensuring that the contractual obligations are understood, managed, and discharged.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven Track Record: substantial experience (at least 3 years) in delivering large-scale, multi-year change programmes, preferably within the utilities sector and smart metering domain.
  • Leadership Excellence: strong leadership skills with a history of establishing and nurturing high-performing teams. Ability to engage and motivate team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strategic and Tactical Balance: demonstrable experience in both strategic planning and detailed execution. Ability to switch between high-level vision and in-depth details seamlessly.
