We have a moral and legal obligation to protect people from harm whilst they travel and work on the railway and you will work within the Technical Authority for Railway security, where we define and discharge accountabilities for protective security policy, strategy, and the security control framework (including assurance).
This is your chance to play a part in developing and delivering physical and cyber security and resilience solutions that will keep Great Britain moving.
About The Role (External)
What will you do during the scheme?
You will spend just under a year with our Group security team and will have the opportunity to work alongside our technical leads across Counter Terrorism, Railway Crime, Protecting our workforce from acts of violence, Cyber Security, Security Resilience and security Innovation, Research and Development.
You could be:
  • Researching and writing case studies and guidancenotes for the wider business,
  • Supporting security awareness activities,
  • Offering technical support,
  • Researching standards and compliance updates,
  • Collecting and analysing security and crime data, and
  • Supporting the business to maintain its legal security obligations
What are the entry requirements?
To join the scheme, you will need to be in your penultimate year at University and looking for a Year in Industry placement, and on track to achieve at least a 2:2 in a degree which includes ideally at least one of the following areas:
  • Cyber Security and/or Digital Forensics
  • Crime, Threat Intelligence or Criminal Justice
  • Information Assurance
  • Security and Resilience
  • Security Management or Risk and Security Management
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Year in Industry Student to work within the Group Security team, based in Milton Keynes.
While we would love to see candidates who are currently studying Security-related courses, such as Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, Crime and/or Intelligence or Security and Resilience, we warmly welcome all applicants who have a passion for managing risk, protecting people and reducing the impact of crime.
The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be capable of influencing decisions while collaborating effectively in a team. Attention to detail and proactive organisation of tasks, events, and people are essential. We value openness and encourage fresh perspectives, as our Year in Industry students contribute valuable new ideas. Familiarity with IT applications like Excel and PowerBI, along with experience in data analysis and creating communication materials, would be an advantage.
