Salary: £80,000 to £110,000 + stock options

Neulinx are supporting a rapidly scaling Series A health tech start up who are building next-generation AI tools for clinical decision support. Their platform is already widely adopted across healthcare and is reshaping how medical knowledge is accessed at the point of care. With fresh funding secured and continued global demand, they’re now hiring a Senior Backend Engineer as one of the earliest technical hires.

This is a rare chance to work directly with a highly experienced Head of Backend and VP of Engineering, collaborating closely with clinical experts to build technology that will influence how doctors treat patients every day.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of backend systems, architecture and core infrastructure as the product scales. It’s hands-on, highly technical and suited to someone who thrives in fast-moving, high-impact environments.

Tech Environment

Experience across the following is ideal:

● AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, S3, OpenSearch)

● Node.js, TypeScript, Python

● DynamoDB, PostgreSQL

● Serverless & microservices architecture

● Terraform, Docker, CI/CD pipelines

● Security & compliance best-practice in regulated sectors

What You’ll Be Working On

● Designing and developing scalable backend systems

● Infrastructure-as-code and DevOps tooling

● LLM-powered features including RAG pipelines

● Agentic document extraction & structuring workflows

● Performance, security, reliability at scale

● Working cross-functionally across product and engineering

● Setting engineering standards and shaping best practice

What We’re Looking For

● 5+ years backend engineering experience

● Strong AWS capability & cloud-native delivery

● Experience in small teams or startups

● Pragmatic mindset balancing speed and quality

● Understanding of embeddings, semantic search, chunking

● Security & compliance awareness (GDPR, SOC2 etc)
