Vice President Operations

VP Operations (with progression to COO)

Location: London

Working model: Hybrid, full-time

Compensation: £125,000–£150,000 base + meaningful equity

The Role

A senior, hands-on second-in-command role for an experienced operator who can bring structure, pace and operational discipline to a scaling digital health platform, with a clear path to COO within 12 months.

Why This Role Exists

The company has moved beyond early experimentation and is now operating at meaningful scale.

The product is live, customers are active, and the focus has shifted from proving the model to building a business that can run reliably, compliantly and at pace.

Until now, much of the operational load has sat with the Founder and CEO. As the business enters its next phase of growth, it needs an experienced operator to take ownership of how the company runs day to day, while partnering closely with the CEO on strategy, execution and scale.

This role starts as VP Operations and is intentionally designed to evolve into a COO position within 12 months for the right person.

About the Company

This is a UK-based digital health platform operating across both B2B and B2C, supporting healthcare providers and patients.

The platform underpins core service delivery, customer experience and commercial performance for a large and growing network of partners and end users. It operates in a highly regulated environment, where data protection, reliability and operational rigour are non-negotiable.

The team is ambitious, commercially minded and moving quickly. This role sits at the heart of the business and will play a central role in shaping how it scales over the coming years.

What You’ll Actually Do

This is a build-and-run role, not a passive oversight position.

You will be expected to go into the detail, build where needed, and put in place operating systems that genuinely support scale.

Own and scale customer-facing operations

  • Build and refine end-to-end processes across B2B onboarding, customer success and account management
  • Own B2C customer support and experience, ensuring quality and consistency as volume grows
  • Design operational processes that work in practice, not just on paper

Put a real operating cadence in place

  • Establish performance frameworks, KPIs, dashboards and reporting across the business
  • Introduce clear planning cycles, execution rhythms and accountability
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through to delivery
  • Strengthen commercial discipline around unit economics, pricing, retention and performance tracking

Act as the CEO’s right hand

  • Serve as the senior operational partner and sounding board to the CEO
  • Support strategic decision-making, fundraising preparation and board engagement
  • Help build a high-performing leadership team with clear ownership and expectations
  • Represent the business with key customers, partners or stakeholders when needed

Take ownership of compliance and risk

  • Ensure operational compliance across data protection, information security and regulatory frameworks
  • Work closely with specialists to maintain audit readiness and manage risk
  • Embed compliance into day-to-day operations rather than treating it as a separate function

Who This Role Is For

This role is for someone who has scaled a business before, or something very close to it.

Experience that matters

  • Senior operational experience in a start-up or scale-up environment
  • A strong track record working closely with a founder or CEO during periods of growth
  • Clear examples of building operational systems from scratch
  • Backgrounds in demanding, high-accountability environments (scale-ups, consulting, finance, regulated tech) are highly valued
  • Numerically strong and comfortable owning dashboards, metrics, tooling and analysis personally

How you work

  • Hands-on and execution-led, comfortable getting into the detail
  • Calm in ambiguity and effective at creating clarity through structure
  • Direct and thoughtful in how you challenge and influence senior stakeholders
  • Care about building a high-trust, high-ownership culture where expectations are clear and people are supported to deliver
  • Seen as someone who raises standards through example and consistency

Great to have

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy or another regulated industry
  • Exposure to platform or marketplace businesses
  • Experience engaging with investors, boards or enterprise customers

What’s On Offer

  • £125,000–£150,000 base salary depending on experience
  • Meaningful equity aligned with the impact of the role
  • Clear progression from VP Operations to COO within 12 months
  • Direct partnership with the CEO on the most important decisions in the business
  • The opportunity to build the operational backbone of a company making a genuine impact in healthcare
