OT Security Consultant
OT Cyber Security Consultant - UK Remote | 12+ Month Extendable Contract | 40 Hours per Week
Next Ventures is partnering with a global firm to recruit an experienced OT Cyber Security Consultant for an initial contract mission ending April 2027, with strong potential for extension.
This is a UK-based, fully remote contract opportunity.
The Role:
You will support the governance, design and implementation of cybersecurity across operational technology environments. Working closely with control systems subject-matter experts and engineers, you will:
- Implement and support cybersecurity controls for networked and non-networked OT systems
- Collaborate with engineering and control systems teams to secure critical industrial environments
- Support OT cybersecurity governance and risk-management activities
- Ensure compliance with IEC 62443 recommendations and the client’s internal policies and procedures
- Identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks affecting industrial systems
Essential Experience:
- Strong knowledge of operational technology and OT cybersecurity
- Practical experience with industrial technologies, including:
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
- Understanding of cybersecurity risks within industrial environments
- Experience collaborating with engineers and technical stakeholders
Desirable Experience:
- IEC 62443 training or certification
- Knowledge of IT and OT communication protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC, OPC UA and PROFINET
- Network packet analysis
- Knowledge of operating systems and network, system and IT architecture in OT environments
- Experience with virtualisation, routing and switching, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, storage-area networks, relational databases and VPN tunnels
- Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems and HMI platforms
