HR Manager (Standalone)

Position: Standalone HR Manager – People, Culture & Compliance

Location: East London (fully office-based, no flex)

Hours: Monday to Friday, standard business hours apply

Reporting to: Senior Leadership Team ( CEO & MD)

A well-established and fast-scaling technology business is looking for a senior HR professional to take full strategic and operational ownership of its people function. The company has a strong reputation in its sector, holds multiple industry accreditations and prides itself on its workplace culture.

Standalone HR - This is a genuinely broad and autonomous role. It is ideal for someone who thrives with ownership, wants to make a measurable impact, and is ready to move beyond a purely process-driven HR position.

People & Culture

  • Serve as the go-to people expert for senior leadership, shaping strategy and driving a high-performance culture
  • Champion employee engagement, values and professional standards across a growing team
  • Oversee the full employee journey, from onboarding and development through to offboarding
  • Manage performance frameworks, probation processes and employee relations matters

Systems & Operations

  • Audit and modernise existing HR systems and processes, introducing smarter, more scalable solutions
  • Build efficient, automated workflows that improve the day-to-day employee experience
  • Introduce data-driven approaches to HR decision-making

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure the business remains fully compliant with UK employment legislation, liaising with external legal advisers as needed
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies that reflect current best practice
  • Proactively manage HR-related risk across the organisation

Accreditations & Standards

  • Hold full accountability for the business's compliance accreditations, spanning quality, environmental, information security and IT service management frameworks
  • Manage the audit cycle, maintain supporting documentation and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Uphold and develop the organisation's workplace accreditation status

Talent & Recruitment

  • Own the end-to-end recruitment process, working closely with hiring managers to attract and secure top talent
  • Develop and strengthen the employer brand and candidate experience

Learning & Development

  • Design and roll out training and development programmes that support individual and business growth
  • Build internal career pathways and support leadership development at all levels

What is required for this role. You must have:

  • Solid HR management experience, ideally within a growing or entrepreneurial business
  • Strong knowledge of ISO Standards
  • Strong grounding in UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Demonstrable experience managing compliance or quality accreditations
  • Familiarity with workplace accreditation frameworks
  • The confidence and credibility to advise and influence at board level
  • A practical, commercial mindset, you think about the business, not just the process
  • Highly organised, self-driven and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy
