Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)
Role - Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Cloud Automation)
Location - Manchester
Salary - £55,000
We are is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of Linux infrastructure and cloud automation across our managed service customer base. This is a hands-on, senior engineering role with real ownership and accountability, not a support desk position.
The Role
You'll be responsible for end-to-end Linux patching using Ansible, managing Azure Backup for Linux workloads, building infrastructure-as-code deployments with Bicep and ARM templates, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps. You'll also act as the escalation point for T1 engineers and play a key role in P1 major incident response as part of a 1-in-5 weekly on-call rota. On-call compensation is provided.
What We're Looking For
5-7 years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience, ideally within an MSP or multi-customer environment
Strong Linux administration skills across RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Oracle Linux
Proven Ansible experience including playbook development, patching lifecycle management, and compliance reporting
Hands-on Azure proficiency covering Linux VM management, Azure Update Manager, Azure Backup, Key Vault, and networking
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates
Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation
Solid Bash scripting skills for automation and maintenance tasks
Strong understanding of ITIL change management processes, including RFC preparation and CAB attendance
Experience with ServiceNow for ticket and change management
Required Qualifications
AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) or equivalent demonstrated Azure experience.
