Role - Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Cloud Automation)Location - ManchesterSalary - £55,000We are is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of Linux infrastructure and cloud automation across our managed service customer base. This is a hands-on, senior engineering role with real ownership and accountability, not a support desk position.The RoleYou'll be responsible for end-to-end Linux patching using Ansible, managing Azure Backup for Linux workloads, building infrastructure-as-code deployments with Bicep and ARM templates, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps. You'll also act as the escalation point for T1 engineers and play a key role in P1 major incident response as part of a 1-in-5 weekly on-call rota. On-call compensation is provided.What We're Looking For5-7 years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience, ideally within an MSP or multi-customer environmentStrong Linux administration skills across RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Oracle LinuxProven Ansible experience including playbook development, patching lifecycle management, and compliance reportingHands-on Azure proficiency covering Linux VM management, Azure Update Manager, Azure Backup, Key Vault, and networkingExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep and/or ARM templatesFamiliarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automationSolid Bash scripting skills for automation and maintenance tasksStrong understanding of ITIL change management processes, including RFC preparation and CAB attendanceExperience with ServiceNow for ticket and change managementRequired QualificationsAZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) or equivalent demonstrated Azure experience.What Matters MostYou take full ownership of what you're responsible for, whether that's hitting a >95% Linux patching compliance SLA, maintaining >98% backup success rates, or driving an escalated incident to resolution without needing to push it further up the chain.
