Position: IT Field Engineer

Location: Central London

Compensation: £40,000

About the Organisation

This company provides high-level technical support and advisory services to organisations that operate in heavily regulated, security-conscious industries. They are known for round-the-clock assistance, tailored consultancy, and careful technology procurement, all delivered with a focus on resilience, protection, and an excellent end-user experience.

They operate with a modern, cloud-first mindset and hold top-tier partnerships with major technology vendors. Their team is recognised for guiding businesses through digital transformation projects, especially those requiring strict compliance and robust security practices.

The Opportunity

They are seeking a technically versatile engineer based in the London area who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider support operation. The role involves a mixture of on-site visits and remote assistance, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving, continuous learning, and supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing.

  • Troubleshooting issues in varied and sometimes complex technical environments
  • Assisting the service desk when not attending customer locations
  • Managing your own workload while adapting to a fast-moving operational setting
  • Communicating professionally with clients, especially when dealing with urgent matters
  • Documenting work clearly to support team collaboration and knowledge continuity
  • Building strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Representing the business positively during every client interaction

What They're Looking For

  • Previous experience working for a technology services provider or MSP
  • Solid background in 2nd line support (minimum 2 years)
  • At least 1 year in a field-based role supporting multiple organisations
  • Good understanding of cloud platforms (especially Microsoft cloud tools)
  • Practical knowledge of Windows desktop and server systems, virtualisation, networking, and identity management
  • Experience with collaboration and email platforms, endpoint protection tools, and backup systems (e.g., Veeam or similar)
  • Strong diagnostic skills with both hardware and software issues
  • Confident communicator with excellent customer-facing skills
  • Able to work under pressure, organise tasks effectively, and remain detail-oriented
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to receive and offer constructive feedback

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Attending different client locations for scheduled or reactive support
  • Providing remote assistance when not required on site
  • Logging and updating support requests accurately
  • Escalating problems appropriately
  • Sharing knowledge with team members to strengthen service delivery
  • Approaching every task with flexibility and professionalism

Plus, a generous package of company perks and benefits.
