Location: London Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 DOE]Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Reports to: Head of Technology

Role Overview

The IT Manager is responsible for the overall management, security, and development of the organisation's IT systems and infrastructure. This role ensures technology supports business operations efficiently, securely, and cost-effectively, while leading IT projects and managing internal or external IT support.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Oversee daily IT operations, including networks, servers, hardware, software, and cloud services
  • Ensure systems availability, performance, security, and disaster recovery
  • Manage system upgrades, maintenance, and patching schedules
  • Ensure data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. GDPR)

People & Vendor Management

  • Manage internal IT staff and/or external IT service providers
  • Act as the main point of contact for IT-related issues across the business
  • Set priorities, manage workloads, and provide technical guidance and support
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and software providers

Strategy & Projects

  • Develop and implement IT strategy aligned with business goals
  • Lead IT projects such as system implementations, migrations, or process improvements
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations to senior management
  • Manage IT budgets, forecasts, and cost control

Support & Troubleshooting

  • Ensure effective IT support for all staff
  • Escalate and resolve complex technical issues
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Deliver or coordinate IT training for staff where required

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in an IT Manager or senior IT role
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Networks, servers, and cloud environments
    • Cybersecurity best practices
    • Microsoft 365 / Active Directory (or equivalent)
  • Experience managing IT projects and budgets
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, AWS)
  • Experience with hybrid or remote IT environments
