Salary: Up to £49,400 dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:

Produce, update & maintain Outfit design documentation (schematics, keyplans etc) and ultimately deliver completed documents ahead of ship acceptance

Lead on resolution of technical issues during the ship build programme. Carry out technical analysis and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support issue resolution

Support acceptance activities for Outfit facilities and equipment, as well as ensuring product safety of design solutions satisfies requirements needed to support wholeship safety case

Liaise with customers and/ or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters to resolve issues quickly and maintain shipbuilding efforts

Make Engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and answer technical queries within their level of knowledge and competency.

Provide guidance and support to the Technical and Approval Authorities to ensure requirements are met and evidenced and to provide clarity and assurance
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
-
Typically, degree qualified likely to be in a Technology, Engineering or Science related discipline or alternatively demonstrable equivalent experience in an Engineering field aligned with Outfit systems.

Knowledge and experience of naval and/ or commercial ship outfit systems with the experience to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines

Has sufficient capability to be able to make correct trade-off decisions.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to stakeholders at various levels
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.
Desirable:

Experience with CAD software like AutoCAD or FORAN

Good Experience in an Outfit Ship Design environment with knowledge of BAE toolsets and processes e.g Windchill

The Type 26 Stage 1 Outfit Team:
Within this team, you will be responsible for the design and integration of a range of Outfit systems (including compartment design and support) on a multi-billion pound warship programme. You will provide engineering solutions to technical issues as they emerge during the ship build and commissioning stages of the programme and ensure engineering requirements and supporting evidence are delivered in line with key programme milestones.
Flexibility - ability to be flexible within team in terms of working arrangements and working hours etc.
Dynamic role combining office-based tasks with hands-on engineering and shipbuilding work.
