Data Engineering Director
Company Description
A scaling and rapidly growing technology business is looking for a Data Engineering Director. The company has offices around the world and has significantly increased its headcount in recent years. Due to their ongoing strong partnership with Snowflake they are now entering a new phase of growth into 2026 and beyond as they enter new markets. The company have highlighted that they need to close a gap that currently sits between the CTO and the Data Engineering team to facilitate further growth and onboard more expertise.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Data Engineering Director based remotely with the requirement to attend the London office when required. The Data Engineering Director will oversee and manage data engineering projects via the small but powerful team, engage with cross-functional departments and drive technical excellence through hands on architecture and engineering best practice. Responsibilities include guiding data engineering teams, managing projects to ensure timely delivery, and ensuring the implementation of robust data engineering solutions. The role will also involve developing strategies to simplify, optimise, and modernise data workflows. Further to this, you will need to work closely with the CTO and wider SLT on over arching strategy that encompasses other technical elements.
Experience
- Proven experience in hands on technical delivery through successful project implementation
- Strong background in Snowflake design, deployment and scalability
- Deep understanding and usage of Data Engineering tooling (SQL, Python, Cloud, Infra etc)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders
- Comfortable with executing architectural design and data engineering (pipelines etc)
- Experience with Financial Services or finance data sets would be beneficial
- Maybe experience currently as a Data Engineering Manager looking for that next step
