I am seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives on solving complex operational challenges at scale. This isn't a feature factory role, it's about designing the Back End systems that automate workflows, improve reliability, and enable the business to operate more efficiently.

You'll work on the core platform that powers AI-driven automation across the insurance life cycle, building resilient services that reduce manual effort, improve operational visibility, and create exceptional customer experiences.

Your Mission

Design and build the Back End platform that automates insurance operations, allowing thousands of customer interactions and internal workflows to run accurately, reliably, and with minimal manual intervention.

What You'll Build

• As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll own the design and delivery of services that sit at the heart of our operational platform.
• Design and build scalable Back End services that power AI-enabled workflow automation.
• Model and automate complex insurance processes, including quote generation, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and claims management.
• Build reliable workflow orchestration that connects customers, insurers, internal teams, and third-party systems.
• Develop robust APIs and event-driven services with strong fault tolerance, retry mechanisms, idempotency, and observability.
• Improve platform resilience, performance, and operational visibility through monitoring, logging, and continuous optimisation.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Frontend, QA, and DevOps to translate operational complexity into scalable software.
• Shape technical direction, influence engineering standards, and contribute to architectural decisions.

We're particularly interested in engineers who have:

• Extensive experience building scalable Back End applications in production.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, distributed systems, databases, messaging, and asynchronous architectures.
• Experience designing systems that are resilient, observable, and easy to maintain.
• A structured approach to debugging complex production and data-flow issues.
• The ability to simplify complicated business processes through thoughtful software design.
• Strong ownership-from identifying problems to delivering durable solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and operational teams.

Experience with workflow engines, event-driven architectures, AI integrations, or automation platforms would be an advantage but isn't essential.
