Location: Northampton (Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite, first three months 3-4 days/week for onboarding)
Salary: Up to £65k (Permanent + Benefits)
Sector: Healthcare/Public Sector
About the Role:
We're hiring a Technical Architect to shape long-term infrastructure strategy for a major UK healthcare charity. You'll lead the design of secure, scalable, and cost-effective IT solutions that directly support care delivery, from modernising Legacy infrastructure to planning future-ready systems.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in regulated environments and enjoys bridging business needs with robust technical architecture. You'll be the sole architect on the team, so confidence, initiative, and strong communication skills are key. If you're someone who can turn strategic goals into actionable system designs and explain them clearly to both clinical and tech teams, this is the job for you!
What You'll Do:
- Design and evaluate system architectures, infrastructure, and integration plans
- Own infrastructure roadmaps across Windows, networks, Servers, and cloud platforms
- Collaborate with internal IT, MSPs, and security teams to deliver compliant, efficient solutions
- Lead governance reviews, risk assessments, and technical assurance activities
- Support the development of security, disaster recovery, and data management frameworks
- Mentor support teams and provide technical oversight across multiple projects
You'll Need (Must-Haves):
- 2-3+ years in technical/solutions architecture within Microsoft environments
- Experience working alongside Managed Service Providers
- Strong documentation, infrastructure planning, and low-level design skills
- Experience with the Microsoft ecosystem (EUD + Server)
- Azure - including Azure Stack HCI
- Networking experience - ideally Juniper and Extreme
- Deep knowledge of backup/restore, DR/BC strategy, and security best practices
- Ability to translate business needs into long-term architecture plans
- Excellent communication skills - able to work directly with non-technical stakeholders, clinicians, and even patients
- Self-sufficient - you're the go-to architect, so being confident and delivery-focused is key
Bonus (Should-Haves):
- TOGAF certification or familiarity with structured architecture frameworks
- Previous experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries
- Exposure to or interest in AI/ML solutions (eg, diagnostic tools, automation, chatbots)
