Job Purpose

The Dynamics 365 Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting solutions across the Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform ecosystem. The role requires a strong technical capability, experience in developing enterprise business applications, and the ability to convert business needs into reliable, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with technical and functional teams to deliver high-quality Dynamics 365 solutions, integrations, and enhancements aligned with business objectives and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work within established development and change management processes, supporting the delivery of approved technical solutions across development, testing, and live environments.
  1. Design, build, customise, and deploy solutions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications, including areas such as Customer Engagement, Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Finance, and Operations.
  1. Develop and configure Dynamics 365 components, including entities, forms, views, workflows, business processes, plugins, and automated processes.
  1. Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including technical design, development, testing, peer reviews, documentation, and controlled deployment activities.
  1. Work collaboratively with functional specialists and system administrators to determine when configuration, custom development, or integration approaches are most appropriate.
  1. Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI, SSRS, and other reporting technologies.
  1. Develop and support integrations between Dynamics 365 and external systems using APIs, web services, middleware platforms, and cloud technologies.
  1. Investigate issues, resolve defects, and improve the performance, reliability, and usability of existing Dynamics 365 solutions.
  1. Engage with business analysts, consultants, stakeholders, and end users to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
  1. Apply secure coding practices, development standards, and performance optimisation techniques across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions.
  1. Maintain awareness of Microsoft product updates, platform improvements, and emerging technologies relevant to Dynamics 365 development.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience developing solutions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and/or Finance & Operations modules.
  • Experience with C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dynamics 365 plugin development.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dataverse and SQL-based data structures.
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and data modelling principles.
  • Experience designing and consuming integrations using APIs, REST/SOAP services, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.
  • Ability to produce high-quality, maintainable code following recognised development standards.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power Platform certifications.
  • Experience developing using AL for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
  • Knowledge of AI capabilities and automation features within Microsoft business applications.
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with source control, automated deployments, and DevOps practices.
