Job Purpose

The Dynamics 365 System Configurator is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and enhancing Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications to support business operations and improve system effectiveness.

Working closely with system owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams, the role focuses on translating approved business requirements into practical system configurations, process improvements, automation, and reporting solutions. The successful candidate will help ensure that Dynamics 365 platforms are configured effectively, remain aligned with business needs, and deliver a consistent user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Configure and maintain Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications, including Customer Engagement, Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Finance, and Operations modules.
  1. Convert business requirements and operational processes into effective system configurations, workflows, automation, and platform enhancements.
  1. Work collaboratively with business teams, functional consultants, developers, and technical specialists to ensure solutions meet operational objectives.
  1. Design, update, and optimise system components including forms, views, dashboards, business processes, workflows, and reports.
  1. Manage and maintain user access controls, security roles, permissions, and configuration settings within Dynamics 365.
  1. Support data management activities, including data imports, exports, cleansing, migration activities, and validation to maintain data accuracy and quality.
  1. Analyse configuration changes, assess potential impacts, support user acceptance testing, and prepare approved changes for controlled deployment.
  1. Investigate and resolve configuration-related issues, provide user support, and identify opportunities to improve business processes and system performance.
  1. Maintain clear documentation covering system configurations, business processes, changes, and operational procedures to support governance and knowledge sharing.
  1. Keep up to date with Microsoft Dynamics 365 updates, new features, platform capabilities, and recommended configuration practices.
  1. Work within established governance and change management processes, supporting development and testing activities and contributing to controlled system releases under the guidance of the platform owner.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications, including areas such as Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Finance, and Operations.
  • Strong understanding of business processes across CRM, ERP, and operational environments.
  • Experience translating business requirements into practical Dynamics 365 configurations.
  • Knowledge of Power Platform technologies, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Understanding of Dynamics 365 security models, user roles, data management, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to analyse complex requirements, identify solutions, and deliver effective system improvements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organisation, prioritisation, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power Platform certifications.
  • Experience supporting Dynamics 365 implementation, upgrade, or migration projects.
  • Understanding of integrations between Dynamics 365 and external business applications.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, automation capabilities, artificial intelligence features, or Copilot functionality within Microsoft platforms.
