Salary: Up to £55,000
We are working with a London-based organisation to recruit an experienced IT Engineer to join a small, collaborative technology team. The role supports a geographically distributed user base and a modern IT environment with a strong focus on reliability, security, and service quality.
This is a broad, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys variety, ownership, and working closely with the business.
As an IT Engineer, you will be a key point of contact for day-to-day technology support while also contributing to the ongoing operation and improvement of the IT estate. The role combines end-user support, systems administration, cloud platforms, and infrastructure operations.
You will interact with users at all levels of the organisation and work in a hybrid model.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support to end users, both onsite and remotely
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues
- Support users across multiple locations, ensuring consistent service delivery
- Prepare, configure, and deploy laptops, mobile devices, and user applications
- Manage incidents through to resolution, coordinating with third-party suppliers where required
- Administer and maintain cloud-based and on-premise systems
- Support day-to-day infrastructure operations and platform stability
- Participate in a rotating out-of-hours support schedule
- Contribute to initiatives focused on improving reliability, security, and efficiency
- Maintain clear and accurate technical and operational documentation
Technical Skills & Experience
- Several years' experience in a broad IT support, operations, or engineering role
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 11 desktop environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, including identity, device management, and collaboration tools
- Experience supporting cloud platforms and virtualised environments
- Awareness of security best practices, access controls, and data protection principles
- Exposure to backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions
Desirable (but not essential)
- Scripting or automation experience (e.g. PowerShell, Power Automate)
- Experience working with third-party vendors and service providers
- Relevant technical certifications (Microsoft, networking, or security)
- A technical or scientific academic background
