The Opportunity: Nigel Wright Group are supporting a growing organisation operating in the B2B managed IT services space as they enter a pivotal phase of its development. The technical foundations, service model and internal user base are already well established and the business now needs to be commercialised, strengthened and led with far greater clarity and direction. To enable that next stage of growth, we are seeking a Business Unit Manager who can blend commercial drive with operational maturity, someone who can build a go to market plan, create structure where it’s missing, and turn a capable MSP setup into a successful external proposition. If you’re motivated by autonomy, opportunity and the chance to build something meaningful for the SME community, this is an exciting and rare next step.Role Profile: As Business Unit Manager, you will take ownership of the day to day running and commercial direction of a small but high potential managed IT services business. You’ll combine hands on business development with operational oversight, acting as a “mini MD” who balances growth with service quality and long term sustainability.•    Create and deliver a clear commercial strategy that sets out a structured, achievable route to acquiring SME clients across the region.•    Lead external business development, from market mapping and prospecting to meetings, proposals, negotiations and onboarding.•    Refine and articulate the service proposition, including tiered packages and flexible 30 day rolling contracts, ensuring it resonates with owner managed and early stage businesses.•    Own the unit’s P&L, building accurate forecasts, tracking performance, managing costs and presenting updates at board level.•    Shape and improve operational processes, improving SLA and ticketing structure, and ensuring internal users receive consistent, reliable support.•    Work closely with group functions including marketing, finance and HR, leveraging central support to drive lead generation, strengthen reporting and resource the business appropriately.•    Plan for and enable growth, identifying the right time to expand the team with additional technical or commercial resource as the external client base increases.•    Operate as a steady, values led leader, ensuring the business grows responsibly, maintains customer trust and reflects the organisation’s commitment to helping local SMEs thrive.Person Specification:•    Proven experience in a B2B services environment with responsibility for commercial performance, business development or business unit leadership.•    Strong track record of winning, growing and managing SME accounts, ideally within managed IT services, technology solutions or a related sector.•    Understanding of P&L ownership, budgeting and forecasting, with the ability to confidently discuss financial performance at senior level.•    Experience improving operational processes within a service led environment (e.g. ticketing, SLAs, service desk workflows, billing).•    MSP/IT services background is advantageous, but candidates from adjacent B2B sectors with strong commercial and operational balance will also be considered.•    Commercially sharp, but values driven able to balance immediate opportunities with long term sustainability and customer fit.•    Naturally consultative, able to build rapport with SME owners and explain technical concepts in clear, accessible language.•    Highly organised and process focused, capable of creating clarity, improving workflows and establishing consistent operating rhythms.
