Solutions Architect
Company A large, multi-site organisation is seeking a Solution Architect to design and assure end-to-end technology solutions aligned to business objectives and enterprise architecture standards. The role translates business needs into robust, scalable, secure solution designs and actionable roadmaps.This is a generalist, business-facing architecture role—someone confident engaging senior stakeholders, shaping options, and leading design conversations, while working with internal SMEs to deliver outcomes.Role
- Design end-to-end solutions aligned to enterprise architecture principles, strategic priorities, and platform roadmaps.
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into solution architecture, options, and technology roadmaps, balancing cost, risk, technical debt, time-to-value, and long-term maintainability.
- Lead and assure solution delivery across the lifecycle (discovery/shaping build test implementation), maintaining strong governance and design quality.
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders (including exec/director level), facilitating workshops and turning “business needs” into actionable solution requirements.
- Collaborate with SMEs and other architects (e.g., enterprise, data, security) and with platform/product teams and third parties to assess constraints, risks, and solution options
- Create and maintain architecture artefacts (e.g., HLD/LLD) and contribute to reusable patterns, standards, and architecture maturity.
- Support portfolio/investment planning through sizing/estimation and architectural impact assessment.
- Significant experience in solution architecture (or closely related roles) in complex organisations, delivering business-aligned, scalable, interoperable designs.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and translate needs into solution outcomes.
- Broad technical understanding across applications, integration, data, cloud (e.g., Azure/AWS), and security, plus modern engineering practices (microservices, APIs, event/batch integrations).
- Comfortable operating as an assurance/oversight architect rather than a hands-on delivery engineer (hands-on only occasionally if required).
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks/tools (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, EA tooling) and relevant cloud/architecture certifications.
