4 Days at home 1 Day per Week Onsite (Southampton)

Overview

My client, a Tech business, are looking for an experienced Lead Windows Server Administrator to take ownership of our Windows server estate. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic input, helping to shape infrastructure services, introduce new technologies, and drive continuous improvement across the environment.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Design and deliver complex, integrated infrastructure solutions aligned to business needs
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Windows-based virtualisation platforms (e.g. Azure Local / Hypervisor environments)
  • Maintain and optimise core services including servers, storage, email, file, and collaboration platforms
  • Proactively monitor system performance, capacity, and resilience to minimise risk

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, Business, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure / systems administration
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g. backups, file transfers, configuration)
  • Demonstrated success implementing new technologies
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
