Pre-Sales Engineer - Manchester

We're partnering with an established, privately-owned software business behind one of the most widely-used products in its category. A company with a world-class technical reputation, a deeply loyal user community, and an unusually collaborative culture. They're growing their pre-sales team and looking for someone who likes the technical craft of the job, not just the performance of it.

You'll own the technical side of the sales conversation. That means running discovery-led calls with engineering, DevOps and tech buyers; designing tailored demos built around the specific problem each customer is trying to solve; supporting proof-of-concept engagements end-to-end; and working closely with sales, product, research and customer success.

You won't survive on slides. You will thrive if you enjoy going deep with technical customers and coming back up to a clear, human explanation when the audience shifts.

Presales professionals here work unusually closely with product, research and engineering — not arm's-length across a CRM. It's a big part of why this is a substantive pre-sales role rather than a polished demo one. If you've done the grind of heavy travel and shallow technical ownership, the rhythm here will feel very different.

About you

You're technically credible from experience, not from a deck. You default to discovery over a scripted pitch. You listen more than you talk. Ego is low; curiosity is high. You don't need to arrive as a subject-matter expert - you do need the appetite to become one quickly.
