Technical Tester
Job summary
The postholder will help prepare for and conduct technical testing for the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme to a rigorous standard as part of a small team of Clinical and Technical Testers to help ensure NSFT deploys a safe and fit for purpose EPR from a technical perspective. Following the Testing Strategy and Plan, the postholder will support the team to meet programme deadlines and will follow testing standards and procedures to support system configuration, clinical documentation and data migration testing and re-testing. The postholder will maintain accurate and high-quality test records in accordance with policy and procedure.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will:

Conduct technical testing of all aspects of the necessary technology for the EPR programme under the direction of the Testing Lead, and through this testing support the implementation of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and any other dependent technologies and help ensure they are clinically and operationally fit for purpose.

Work closely with the Testing Team of Clinical and Technical Testers and support End User Testers to complete testing activities in line with Programme objectives.

Follow the Testing Strategy and Plan for the testing process for the EPR Programme and its Projects and Workstreams as directed by Testing Team management

Be aware of and work to support the team to meet all set deadlines as identified by the Programme Team and Testing Team management.

Follow all testing standards and procedures with a rigorous approach.

Support System Configuration Testing and Data Migrationas directed by the Configuration and Documentation Manager, the Testing Lead and the Solutions Architect.

Conduct tests to be used to perform the contractual deployment testing for a particular release.

Ensure selected tests are in carried out and documented in accordance with policy, process and procedure as identified by Testing Team management using the prescribed format.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification or equivalent level of knowledge attained through a recognised training in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science (or a related discipline) or equivalent proven relevant experience.
- Relevant EPR/software testing qualification
Experience
- Experience of carrying out software testing to provide quality assurance
Skills
- Proficiency in some testing methodologies, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, or user acceptance testing.
- Ability to follow comprehensive test plans and scripts and record results accurately and in a standardised way.
- Able to cope with unpredictable and intense situations.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time on complex data and process analysis.
Knowledge
- Good understanding of the principles of software testing management
- Intermediate knowledge of IT systems and software programmes such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with healthcare IT standards and regulations, such as HL7, FHIR, and GDPR.
Other
- Ability to travel
