People Systems Project Manager

Job summary

The post holder will manage the delivery of a programme of projects to consolidate and merge duplicate instances of core People Systems. This role requires significant expertise in project management, system implementation and optimisation, and benefits realisation.

Main duties of the job

The People Systems Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the Project Board and lead system-specific delivery teams, overseeing project planning, sequencing of activity and checkpoints to achieve key milestones
  • Agree and manage cross-system interdependencies to ensure collaboration and alignment
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Provide robust upward reporting, governance, and documentation aligned to Trust standards and project requirements
  • Manage, mitigate and report on risks
  • Oversee programme planning activities, including testing, data migration and change management across all systems.

The post-holder will report to the People Systems and Data Merger Programme Board and will play a key leadership role in ensuring the successful integration of People Systems across the newly merged organisation.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of project activities, maintaining project plans, governance, documentation and reporting to ensure progress against agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, acting as the main point of contact, managing expectations, resolving conflicting priorities and delivering clear, tailored communications.
  • Apply project management methodologies to manage risks, issues, dependencies and financial implications, producing accurate reports, RAID logs and decisionsupport information.
  • Analyse complex data and information from multiple sources to diagnose problems, make evidencebased decisions and recommend mitigation or escalation where required.
  • Coordinate and lead project meetings, subgroups and engagement activities, preparing agendas, papers and actions, and ensuring effective decisionmaking.
  • Ensure accurate information and data management across project systems, maintaining compliance with information governance standards and producing highquality outputs at pace.
  • Support continuous improvement by working with stakeholders and suppliers to design, test and refine system and process changes that enhance service efficiency and safety.
  • Work autonomously to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and represent the project confidently in discussions with senior leaders, providing authoritative updates and recommendations.

Person Specification

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential
  • Qualified in a Project Management subject
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject
Desirable
  • Preferably a holder of project and programme management qualifications or equivalent training/experience.

Work Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience in a project management role or a role with management experience.
