The Information Team

The information Team leads on the production and submission of datasets and reports in line with statutory, national and local reporting requirements. Provision of ad hoc information and development of 'self service' suit of information tools for discreet business functions, including contract and activity and performance information. Supporting the Head of Performance in the design, development and provision of corporate and operational performance reports.

The team provides in depth statistical analysis and profiles of trends within patient and Trust performance information, highlighting variances from the norm, to support decision making and performance improvement.

Main duties of the job

Working primarily as part of the Data Management team and supporting the wider Information Service the post holder will be responsible for fulfilling the Trust's local, regional and national reporting obligations, ensuring the compliance of National and Local contractual obligations.

Working within the existing team framework the post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of external dataset and statutory submissions and will work closely with senior colleagues to support and develop effective ways of managing data.

The post holder will work as part of a team to produce timely, accurate patient-based and management information and statistics using a variety of analytical and reporting tools including SQL and MS Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint ). This includes responding to Freedom of Information Requests and Ad hoc requests on a rota basis in a timely manner.

Working hours generally Monday to Friday with hours to be worked between 8am and 6pm. Weekend working is required on a rota basis November to April, generally around 2 hours.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office Products - Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience of updating internet/web based applications.
  • Analysis of data and auditing data quality.
  • Experience of collecting, processing or using data within a health environment.
  • Able to compare data from different sources and ensure quality, consistency and accuracy.
  • Able to use spreadsheets to summarise data
  • Knowledge of the way in which patients flow through a hospital environment, including referrals, outpatients, inpatients, A&E
  • Understanding of delivery of healthcare in acute and community setting.
