Radiology Systems Manager
Job summary
The post holder will have the overall responsibility for the operational management of the Digital Information Systems of the Trust wide Radiology Information System (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Image Exchange Portal (IEP) and other integrated software systems to enable clinicians managing the North Cumbrian population to have radiology images and results at the point of care
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and management of the RIS/PACS Team and be expected to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills, leading a team that will provide an efficient delivery of all Radiology Clinical systems to ensure continuity of patient care at all times.
The post-holder will play a leading technical role within the PACS/RIS Team and as the Team Manager, ensuring Service Level Agreements and Clinical Imaging Information Systems users expectations are either met or exceeded.
Work with local partners to ensure the electronic requesting system is clinically effective for radiology examinations and interfaces with radiology systems. Ensure the Radiology Clinical Systems are managed with regards to performance, integrity and quality assurance, safety and risk management.
- Work with the Service Manager to ensure that key performance indicators are monitored and managed appropriately. Ensure the efficient, effective and safe management of digital examination data in association with the Professional Lead and Consultant Radiologist.
- Provide current expert advice on Radiology Clinical Systems to support the senior team in tactical and strategic decision making within the Trust
- Provide senior support to radiology teams for technical and management problem solving as required

Person Specification
Qualifications
- BSC Radiographer or equivalent Professional Qualification Information Technology or Equivalent Experience
- Post Graduate specialist knowledge of Radiology IT systems and configuration.
- Post Graduate Management Qualification
- Evidence of training in managerial skills e.g. project management, leadership etc
- Current HCPC registration or equivalent professional registration
Knowledge and Experience
- Expert knowledge of Imaging Systems and the inter-relationship of these with other clinical services within a complex hospital environment.
- Extensive experience of Radiology IT interfacing.
- Proven ability to write complex queries in SQL.
- Advanced Excel skills and data extraction
- Systems and Quality management experience
- Project management
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products e.g. Word. Excel and Power point competently
- Excellent understanding of confidentiality, the Data Protection Act and data protection issues
- Able to deal confidently with 3rd party suppliers and build effective working relationships
Skills and Aptitudes
- Experience of working in a Senior role in a busy department and working environment
- Experience of effective staff leadership and team management
- Awareness of managing budgets/being an authorised signatory
- Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic and organised with the proven ability to effectively lead and manage a team
