Do you enjoy meeting people, organising events and making a real difference? Join our Engagement and Inclusion Team and help shape the future of ambulance services across the North East.
This varied role will see you working with patients, volunteers, community groups and partners to ensure local voices influence how we develop and improve our services. One day you could be supporting a community event, the next analysing patient feedback, developing surveys or building relationships with organisations across the region.
You'll help organise engagement events, support patient experience surveys, analyse feedback and produce reports that drive improvement and help manage our Foundation Trust membership. You'll also work closely with Healthwatch, voluntary organisations and colleagues across the Trust.
We're looking for someone who is organised, enthusiastic and passionate about community engagement. You'll have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, experience of organising events or engagement activities, strong IT skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.

Main duties of the job
The communications and engagement team operates in a busy working environment, serving awide range of audiences across North East England that include patients, staff, national and localmedia, MPs, local authorities and other NHS organisations. The department is responsible for avariety of internal and external communications and engagement activity, including patient, staff andcorporate publications, maintaining and updating the Trust website and Intranet, externalengagement with patients and stakeholders, links with HealthWatch and other third and public sectororganisations , supporting our growing social media presence, managing our Foundation Trustmembership, delivering staff awards and managing our patient surveys, ensuring patient feedbackinfluences services. .

Many people think the job of the ambulance service is to collect patients and take them to hospital, but we do much more!
Paramedic skills have developed hugely in recent years, meaning we carry out more treatment at the scene and en-route to hospital.
We have a dedicated clinical assessment service that allows us to provide patients with the most appropriate care from the beginning of the patient journey.
We have a specialised branch of the Trust called HART which deal with explosions or terrorist attacks.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
- Educated to Degree Level or equivalent qualification or experience
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) or other engagement or communication professional body
Knowledge
- Knowledge of public/patient/stakeholder engagement, communications and public relations techniques approaches and procedures
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and develop clear and concise reports
- An understanding of contemporary NHS issues and particularly those effecting ambulance services
Experience
- Experience of supporting user community or similar groups
- Experience of establishing and facilitating effective user/public involvement that impacts on decision making and influences service delivery
- Experience of managing collaborative working, including competing agendas to facilitate partnership, ranging from front line staff, clinical or social work professionals, to directors
- Experience of organising and facilitating meetings, events, PR activities/campaigns
- Experience of delivering engagement and involvement related projects
Key Skills
- IT Literate including use of Microsoft Office packages and good database management skills for accessing and interpreting FT membership data and patient experience feedback
- Ability to prioritise and manage own and others workload to deliver required outcomes and to contribute to the overall improvement of services

- Capable of working under some pressure
- Personable with an ability to build good relationships with peers, colleagues, partners and stakeholders of all levels
