Insight Officer

Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and analytical Insight Officer to join the Insights Team at North-East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB). This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of decision-making within one of the largest Integrated Care Systems in England, supporting improvements in healthcare services and helping to reduce health inequalities across a population of more than 3 million people.

Main duties of the job

As an Insight Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality business intelligence, analysis and reporting to support the work of the Integrated Care Board and its partners. Working within a highly skilled analytical function, you will transform complex health and care data into meaningful insight that informs strategic planning, operational performance and service improvement.

The role offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of NHS datasets, analytical tools and reporting systems while supporting colleagues across commissioning, performance, transformation and population health programmes. You will analyse, interpret and present complex information in a way that helps stakeholders understand demand, performance, inequalities and opportunities for improvement.

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.

With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.

The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysing and validating complex healthcare datasets from a variety of sources.
  • Producing high-quality reports, dashboards, visualisations and briefing materials.
  • Supporting performance monitoring, operational planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining databases, reporting tools and automated analytical processes.
  • Applying population health management, segmentation and inequalities analysis techniques to generate actionable insight.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality and analytical products.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the NHS and partner organisations to understand information requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Supporting the development of data standards, information governance compliance and best practice approaches to analysis.
  • Assisting with the development and support of colleagues within the wider analytical community.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Professional qualification at degree level in an information related subject or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of relevant training or learning in data, analytics, or digital systems.

Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience in analysing and interpreting complex NHS data.
  • Experience in an NHS information management role.
  • Experience using and developing databases and analytical tools
  • Experience co-ordinating receipt, input, validation, and analysis of complex datasets to strict deadlines.
  • Experience preparing, presenting, and explaining data analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements to reporting processes, tools or systems.
