Fully Remote (UK)

Strong Chance of Extension or Permanent Offer

An emerging UK-based Data Consultancy are delivering a high-impact reporting transformation programme for a major client. As part of this, they’re looking to bring on a technically focused Data Migration Analyst for a 12-month fixed-term role, with the view to becoming permanent.

This role suits someone with a strong grasp of complex data structures, confident SQL skills, and experience supporting data migration initiatives from legacy platforms into modern reporting environments.

The Role

You’ll join a collaborative delivery team supporting the rebuild of business-critical finance reports. Your focus will be on migrating and validating data from legacy systems into a new cloud-based data platform that underpins Power BI reporting.

The work involves analysing legacy report logic, understanding source data, validating outputs, and ensuring clean, consistent migration of data and business rules.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse legacy reports (mainly Excel-based) to extract logic, data sources, and dependencies
  • Trace data lineage and assess platform readiness for each data element
  • Develop and run SQL queries to validate data accuracy and migration completeness
  • Carry out data profiling and quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Create robust source-to-target mappings and data dictionaries
  • Work closely with BAs, Engineers, Testers and Power BI Developers to ensure alignment
  • Apply business logic consistently and support future reporting governance

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who combines hands-on data migration experience with a structured, delivery-focused mindset.

Essential:

  • Strong SQL – able to write, debug and validate complex queries
  • Advanced Excel – confident reconciling outputs and reverse-engineering logic
  • Experience in data migration or data warehousing environments
  • Good understanding of data profiling, validation, and quality assurance
  • Ability to document mappings, rules, and transformation logic clearly
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setup

Desirable:

  • Exposure to Power BI (particularly in migration or redevelopment contexts)
  • Experience working with finance data or reports
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery and cross-functional data teams

If you’re a detail-oriented Data Migration Analyst who enjoys turning messy legacy systems into well-structured, scalable solutions — we’d love to hear from you.

We're looking for candidates who are immediately available!
