Senior Data Analyst - Permanent

Join our Data Insights & Intelligence team and play a key role in delivering high-quality analytics that support decision-making across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Using tools such as SQL, Power BI, Python and R, you will analyse complex datasets, develop impactful dashboards and reports, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. You will also support and mentor Data Analysts, contribute to data quality and governance initiatives, and help drive continuous improvement in analytical practices within a collaborative NHS environment.

About us
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Skills / Competencies
- o Ability to use statistical techniques to explore and analyse dataset
- o Ability to use data visualisation tools to present and communicate data concepts
- o Ability to present complex information to large groups
- o Proficient in programming language such as SQL, R or Python
- o Ability to design and implement self-service dashboards using Power BI or comparable data visualisation tools
- o Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- o Self-motivated and proactive
- o Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- o Excellent attention to detail
- o Able to plan, prioritise own workload and adapt accordingly
- o Able to problem solve and be innovative where appropriate
- o Ability to form excellent relationships and to influence and negotiate effectively order to deliver results including senior managers within NWAS, ICBs and other external organisations

Qualification and Knowledge
- o Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience
- o Evidence of further personal development
- o Understanding of NHS Information Governance agenda including requirements of the data protection act, computer misuse act, freedom of information and the requirements of caldicott
Experience
- o Experience in an information or data analytics role
- o Experience in data analysis and report writing
- o Experience in working within a team
- o Experience of effectively managing workload and adapting priorities to meet deadlines and objectives
- o Experience of applying data quality and data governance approaches and sound understanding of business process and importance of data quality
- o Experience in contributing to projects using a project methodology (e.g. Prince 2 or Agile)
- o Experience in using Power BI or equivalent data visualation tools
