Senior Development Operations Engineer

Job summary

Join NWAS as a Senior Development Operations Engineer - Integration and play a key role in developing and supporting IT solutions that directly impact frontline services. You'll work within a collaborative digital team, acting as a subject matter expert for integration projects and ensuring high standards of service and customer satisfaction.

The Trust is embarking on a journey to improve the integration with other health and social care providers and this role will be integral to the delivery of that roadmap.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop, support, and maintain integration solutions for critical digital applications.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams on solution design and delivery.
  • Provide third-line support and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Present complex technical information clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues, sharing integration knowledge and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, information security, and Trust policies.
  • Stay up to date with digital systems developments and contribute to continuous improvement.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Essential
  • Proven communication skills - verbal, written, presentational and interpersonal
  • Proven skills in implementing integration design and development
  • Proven skills in systems design & integration, healthcare sector data Standards, web technologies, software development, data modelling
  • Able to participate in the production of clinical business requirements and high level design deliverables
  • Proven problem solving approach to live issue resolution
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage frequent, wide-ranging stakeholder interactions.
  • Personable, helpful and approachable.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent).
  • Evidence of continuous personal development.
  • Knowledge of HL7 standard*. Knowledge of FHIR*
  • Proficient in MIRTH, HL7, SQL, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of system integration interfaces and the principles between data exchange between systems
  • Knowledge of defect management and structured approaches to resolution of issues

Experience

Essential
  • Demonstrable technical experience in integration development
  • Ability to translate business requirements into delivered solutions
  • Experience in developing integration engines and interfaces
  • Experience in close working relationships with business users
  • Experience supporting business applications inside and outside working hours
  • Experience of producing documentation and reports to senior management
