Solutions Developer
Job summary
Join North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) as a Solutions Developer and help deliver innovative digital solutions that support our mission: to be there when people need us most. You'll work within a collaborative and inclusive team, supporting the design, development, and implementation of digital projects that improve care for patients and staff.
This role is key to our ongoing digital transformation, focusing on digitising manual processes and developing integrated, future-ready applications.
Main duties of the job
- Design, develop, implement, and support digital solutions in line with the Trust's digital strategy.
- Lead on at least one development product and support other projects as needed.
- Collaborate with users and stakeholders to analyse requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Apply full stack development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PHP, .NET, C#) and agile methodologies (SCRUM, KANBAN).
- Ensure robust documentation, testing, and security of all developed systems.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues and end users.
- Contribute to business appraisals, procurement, and project management activities.
- Uphold Trust policies, information governance, and data protection standards.
- Support and mentor junior developers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
About us
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent in relevant subject area
- Educated to higher degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
- Evidence of further development and or education and training.
- Proven experience in Microsoft SQL Server and knowledge of Server-Side technologies such as PHP 7.0 and above, and/or knowledge of .NET and C#
- Demonstrates a good knowledge of the full stack development lifecycle and core development principles
- Able to show experience and knowledge of HTML, CSS, and a number of front-end libraries such as jQuery, Bootstrap 5
- Expert knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft .NET architecture and Microsoft technology stack including the Power platform
Experience
- Experiencing in working as a team actively engaging with and supporting colleagues
- Experience of managing risks and reporting
- Experience of drafting briefing papers and explaining highly complex issues to SMT, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience of collaborative and team working practices
- Experience of working with ITIL and Service Management processes
- Experience working in an agile environment with knowledge of the SCRUM framework
- Experience in using tools to validate CSS and XHTML and cross browser testing to ensure adherence to relevant guidelines.
