Application Support Officer
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Officer with a strong focus on system development, enhancement, and technical innovation to support the NEP Consortium. This role offers the opportunity to shape and improve key applications across the Consortium's P2P, O2C, and A2R solutions, ensuring systems are robust, efficient, and aligned with best practice.
Working collaboratively within the Applications and Systems Support Teams, you will lead on thedesign, testing, and implementation of new developments and system improvements -- from software and web functionality to reporting tools and integrations. You will also play a key role in advising and supporting Consortium members in the adoption of system enhancements and standardised business processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- 
Leading and contributing to system design, development, and testing activities. 
- 
Implementing enhancements and new functionality across a range of business systems. 
- 
Providing specialist technical advice, analysis, and data reporting to support decision-making. 
- 
Supporting training and mentoring of colleagues to strengthen technical capability across the team. 
- 
Ensuring all developments meet security and compliance standards under NEP SLAs. 
This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about continuous improvement in system functionality and performance.
Please note you will be require to work onsite 3 days a week.
Main duties of the job
This role plays a key part in maintaining and improving system functionality across financial and procurement applications, ensuring a first-class service for Consortium members and colleagues.
You will lead by example--mentoring team members, analysing complex client requests, and fostering strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation and external partners. A confident communicator, you will engage directly with clients to resolve technical and application issues, while also contributing to the design, testing, and implementation of new developments and system improvements.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and practical understanding, and while you will be expected to support the full systems function, you will be at an advantage if you have experience in procure-to-pay processes, particularly within the accounts payable function. We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Application Development Team at NEP. Our team is a collaborative group of specialists covering Technical, Applications, Business/Account Management, and Support functions, dedicated to the day-to-day management, maintenance, and continuous development of NEPs Oracle Fusion Cloud solutions to ensure service excellence.
As the Application Support Officer specialising in Accounts Payable, you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing our Oracle Fusion financial systems. You will take ownership of resolving complex Accounts Payable queries, driving improvements in system processes, and ensuring best practice across the NEP Consortium. Working closely with our Customer Service team, you will also provide expert front-line and service desk support to Consortium Organisations.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- o The Application Support Officer should possess a professional Degree Level qualification within a Financial or Procurement related study area, or equivalent qualification and / or demonstrable relevant experience.
- o Qualification in Project Management, i.e. Prince 2
Experience
- The Post Holder should have experience of working in a supervisory role within a Finance or Purchasing Department or a Customer Service Support Department within a pro-active team-based environment.
- o A broad range of operational experience and knowledge of one or more computer systems, hardware or software
- o It would be beneficial, although not essential, for the post holder to have working knowledge of NHS working practices and procedures.
Skills
- o The Post Holder should possess excellent keyboard skills, and should have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
