Technical Product Manager

Job summary

  • The postholder will support the development and delivery of products on the Trust's modern data platform, to enable Northumbria Healthcare to improve patient care, clinical decision-making, and operational efficiency
  • This will include management of the Data Platform Product Strategy, the implementation of that strategy, and follow on continuous improvement of all of the Data Platform Products.
  • Management of relationships with the corporate and clinical stakeholders
  • Linking engineering and governance delivery up to product feature delivery and managing the administration of that delivery process.

Main duties of the job

  • The postholder will manage the definition and implementation of the Data Platform product strategy, at the direction and in collaboration with Data Platform Leadership and in-line with the vision and strategy of the Data Platform function.
  • They will manage relationships with corporate & clinical stakeholders and manage the capture and translate business and clinical needs into product requirements and through into product and feature definition.
  • They will work with data governance, engineering and analytics teams to help break feature definition into tasks that can be added to the team Backlog.
  • They will also play a key role in collaboration with Data Platform leadership in assisting in the identification and introduction of innovative data and AI capabilities.
  • They will be responsible for the administration of the Agile delivery management process in-line with the Platform product definition through into product feature level.
  • This is a hands-on delivery role with opportunities for professional growth into more senior product management positions.

Job responsibilities

  • The role supports the development and delivery of products on the Trusts modern data platform (Microsoft Fabric).
  • The postholder contributes to delivery of dashboards, reports, and AI-enabled tools that will be used by clinical, operational, and corporate teams across the Trust.
  • The role does not hold budgetary or direct line management responsibility, but may supervise tasks allocated to analysts, trainees, or students on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Responsible for ensuring data and product requirements are well-documented and communicated, with a direct impact on the Trusts ability to deliver timely, accurate, and trusted insights

Person Specification

Qualifications / Professional Registration

Essential
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Information Systems) or equivalent experience working in a digital, data, or analytical role.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Product Lifecycle Manaent, creating & maintaining framework(s) either for tracking and managing Data, Analytics, and/or AI products or have worked with software products.
  • Awareness of Agile delivery methods (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Understanding of the importance of data governance, data quality, and information security.
Desirable
  • Knowledge and experience working with Data as a Product.
  • Statistical literacy: understanding of the fundamentals of Data Science
  • Knowledge of Data Pipelines and understanding of optimising how data flows.
  • Awareness of AI/ML concepts, development cycles and their application in business or healthcare settings
  • Knowledge of NHS data systems or healthcare datasets.
