IT Engineer

Role: 2nd Line IT Engineer (Contract)

Location: Crawley / Gatwick Airport Area (100% On-site, 5 days per week)

Rate: £200 – £250 per day

Duration: 12 Months (Potential to extend)

Start Date: Immediate / Short notice preferred

Norton Blake is partnering with a global industry leader based near Gatwick Airport to recruit a 2nd Line IT Engineer on an initial 12-month contract.

Following a team restructure, our client is seeking an experienced hands-on contractor to deliver high-level 2nd line infrastructure support while taking ownership of crucial endpoint security and deployment projects—specifically modernizing and hardening device builds across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small-scale infrastructure and endpoint deployment projects.
• Build, automate, and deploy OS builds via Microsoft Intune.
• Execute image hardening across new and existing endpoints—removing OEM bloatware, configuring security policies, and aligning systems with modern InfoSec standards.
• Provide robust 2nd line technical support across Windows Server, Active Directory, network infrastructure, and user environments.
• Manage user administration, backup jobs, system monitoring, and escalate high-severity incidents where required.
• Ensure full physical, on-site coverage for office endpoints, hardware, and user requests in Crawley.

Requirements & Experience

• Extensive background in Microsoft infrastructure and 2nd line end-user support.
• Hands-on expertise in Microsoft Intune, automated OS deployment, and image creation.
• Proven experience in image hardening, endpoint security configuration, and bloatware removal.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, DNS/DHCP, and core network troubleshooting (VPN, Wi-Fi, switches).
• Ability to commit to a full-time, 5-day on-site presence at the Crawley/Gatwick location.
• Available immediately or on a short notice period (1 month max).
