Senior IT Project Manager Fixed Term Contract

Job Description

We are a global law firm with a powerful strategic focus and real momentum. Our industry-focused strategy is seeing us take on pioneering work in places that others have yet to reach. Our shared values define our culture and our workplace. You will find us to be unusually collegial, team-oriented, and ready to innovate. We work seamlessly across practices, offices and around the world. This elimination of boundaries has allowed us to evolve into a law firm that works as hard for its culture as it does for its clients.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior IT Project Manager (12-18 months fixed term contract) to lead the successful delivery of a Databricks and MS Fabric-based data transformation project within a large-scale, multi-regional programme. This is a pivotal role responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery—from planning through execution.

You will oversee a cross-functional, multi-supplier team comprising data engineers, architects, business analysts, and application developers. Using hybrid Agile delivery methods, you’ll coordinate efforts across multiple time zones, maintain alignment with programme governance, and ensure seamless integration into the organization’s broader data strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of the Databricks-based data transformation workstream, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Manage and motivate a cross-functional, multi-regional team spanning data engineering, analytics, architecture, business analysts, infrastructure, and application development.
  • Establish and manage detailed project plans, resource forecasts, and financial tracking to meet delivery milestones.
  • Drive Agile delivery practices—facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog management within Azure DevOps.
  • Manage progress, proactively manage risks and issues, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to programme governance standards and maintain accurate project documentation and reporting (e.g. project plan, RIDAC, communication plan)
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements specific to the legal industry.
  • Use ServiceNow PPM for project tracking, reporting, and programme alignment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels across technology, data, and application teams to align objectives and manage expectations.
  • Champion continuous improvement, fostering collaboration and accountability within the delivery team.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Significant experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering complex technical or data-focused projects in enterprise environments.
  • Strong background managing data transformation initiatives, leveraging Databricks and Azure data services.
  • Proven track record delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Deep understanding of Agile and hybrid delivery frameworks and experience adapting them to large-scale programmes.
  • Experience managing cross-functional, multi-regional, multi-supplier teams.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow PPM.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills with proven experience of operating with C-suite.
  • Relevant professional certifications (Certified Scrum Management, SAFe, AgilePM, PMP)
  • Results-oriented with strong delivery focus and accountability for outcomes.
  • Skilled at building trust and collaboration across technical and business teams.
  • Analytical, structured, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced, global environment.

Desirable

  • Technical understanding of data engineering, ETL, or cloud data architecture.
  • Experience working within a legal, regulated or enterprise environment.
  • Exposure to large data platform migrations or modernisation programmes
