QA Engineer / Software Tester - Manual - Hybrid – Leeds (3 days onsite)

We’re hiring a QA Engineer to join an in-house team building workflow driven platforms used across the business and by customers
This role is focused on hands-on testing and working closely with developers. You’ll be expected to take full ownership of quality, not just follow test scripts.
The role
- Test new features, changes and regressions across the platform
- Work directly with developers to understand functionality and resolve issues quickly
- Log clear, reproducible defects and manage them through to resolution
- Review requirements and challenge gaps or ambiguity before development and release
- Identify edge cases and risks within complex workflows
- Support releases by ensuring features are properly tested and ready to go live
- Contribute to improving test coverage and overall quality
- Get involved in automation where possible (even at a basic level)
Experience required
- Experience testing software within a digital or software delivery environment
- Strong manual testing capability
- Comfortable working closely with developers
- Able to take requirements and turn them into effective test coverage
- Clear written communication when logging defects and documenting issues
- Some exposure to automation tools or frameworks, or active learning in this area
- Experience working in agile, sprint-based teams
- Able to manage your own workload and take responsibility for quality
- Familiarity with tools like Jira or similar
- Experience testing workflow-heavy or data-driven systems (ideal)
- Understanding of risk-based or exploratory testing approaches
- Awareness of how testing supports releases in live environments
