Client & Role Purpose
This is a Technology/Cyber security focused NED role. The NED will be part of the Board of a regulated, public-interest smart metering sector business to help ensure it is effective, well-governed and focused on the long-term delivery of its obligations, whilst delivering its agreed strategy and meeting or exceeding operational performance metrics.
The Cyber/Technology NED will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Board, helping to promote objective judgement, openness and constructive debate, to ensure key strategic decisions are made with the running of this organisation.
Key Responsibilities
· Strategic contribution to the new Board on technology and / or cyber security industry matters
· Contribute to the organisation’s technology and cyber security strategy
· Involvement with the Board’s discussions and attention given to technology and cyber security operational resilience, service continuity and the maintenance of trust in a critical national infrastructure environment
· Support constructive and transparent engagement with all relevant technology/cyber regulatory or industry bodies on matters affecting the business, its performance and its governance
Experience Needed
· Significant Technology or cyber security industry and career focused experience
· Experience of highly regulated environments, ideally with exposure to licence-based or public-interest obligations in the energy sector
· Ideally an understanding of telecoms and/or Information technology and running critical national infrastructure would be great
· Awareness of the smart metering regulatory environment and technology used to service customers and end consumers would be a really ‘nice to have’
· Demonstrable experience of working within Technology sector organisations that have been through a period of significant change in a complex operating environment with external scrutiny and competing stakeholder interests
