About the Role
The Director of In-House Legal will play a key role in strengthening the company’s position as a leading provider of legal AI solutions to major in-house legal teams across the UK.
This individual will build influential relationships within the legal community, provide market insight, and help shape strategic and commercial direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Insight
- Develop a strong understanding of the priorities, challenges, and trends impacting large in-house legal teams.
- Build relationships with General Counsel, Heads of Legal Operations, and senior in-house lawyers.
- Monitor developments across the legal AI market and share practical insights with internal stakeholders including product, strategy, and go-to-market teams.
Thought Leadership & External Presence
- Represent the business at industry conferences, roundtables, workshops, and panel discussions.
- Collaborate with marketing and internal subject matter experts to shape thought leadership themes and content.
- Build a credible and visible profile within the UK in-house legal market.
Relationship Development
- Establish and maintain trusted relationships with senior legal leaders across FTSE 350 businesses and leading private companies.
- Support commercial teams by providing introductions, market context, and strategic guidance to help progress opportunities.
Internal Collaboration
- Partner closely with sales, marketing, product, strategy, and customer success teams.
- Act as the voice of the customer to help influence product development and commercial priorities.
Requirements:
- Proven ability to engage senior legal audiences with credibility and authority, including General Counsel and corporate legal leadership teams.
- Experience working within, or closely alongside, large legal functions with a strong understanding of their structure, challenges, and strategic priorities.
- Background in legal practice, either private practice or in-house, or equivalent experience demonstrating deep legal sector knowledge.
- Strong understanding of technology and AI, with the ability to discuss practical use cases, risks, and the impact on legal teams.
- Demonstrated success in building senior relationships, expanding networks, and turning relationships into commercial outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, executive presentations, and representing a business in high-profile environments.
