Data Engineer

NuStaff are currently recruiting for a Data Engineer to join Lincolnshire Police on a contract basis.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to work within a public sector environment, helping to improve the way data is collected, managed and used across the Force.

About the role

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining data infrastructure, ensuring information is accurate, reliable and readily available for analysis and reporting.

The role will involve working with a variety of data sources and developing ETL processes and data pipelines to extract, transform and load data into databases. You will also work closely with analysts, BI developers and other teams to help turn data into useful information that supports decision-making across the Force.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining scalable ETL processes and data pipelines.
  • Working with complex datasets, including extracting, cleaning and combining data.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate manual data processes and reporting.
  • Troubleshooting data issues and resolving problems with pipelines and datasets.
  • Supporting data quality, validation and cleansing activities.
  • Working with internal teams to understand their data requirements.
  • Supporting data governance, security and GDPR requirements.
  • Documenting processes and contributing to data engineering standards and best practice.

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will have previous experience working with complex datasets, ETL processes and data pipelines, along with a good understanding of relational databases, SQL, database design and query optimisation.

You will need experience using SQL, Python or R. Knowledge of modern data engineering technologies and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS would be an advantage, particularly Azure Data Factory or Azure Synapse.

Experience with Power BI, Qlik, data modelling or automated testing would also be beneficial.

We're looking for someone who can work well with others, communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders and take a practical approach to solving problems. You should be comfortable working independently, managing your workload and delivering work to a high standard.

Previous experience within the public sector or policing would be advantageous, but is not essential.
