Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Oasis Academy Arena

The role will involve mentoring and supporting the learning of individual pupils and small groups under the direction of the teachers. You will ensure that the pupils can integrate as fully as possible in the activities generally undertaken by the other children in the class and make progress.

Role

Your responsibilities will include running specific programmes and activities to assist the pupils’ individual learning and social needs. You will also be responsible for implementing the targets on the pupils’ Individual Education Plan (IEP) in liaison with the class teachers and the SENDCo and will regularly update pupil profiles.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Provide teaching support under the guidance of subject teachers, in small groups and, where necessary, for individual pupils and/or students with SEND to aid the teaching of all curriculum subjects
  • Assist in drawing up and undertaking the delivery of group or individual pupil learning programmes, either in withdrawal groups or within the classroom, to ensure delivery of the individual's targets, group targets and to support the meeting of whole school target
  • Assist the teacher with observation and monitoring of the progress of students, maintaining accurate records to ensure documentation of all students, especially those students with interventions
  • Deliver activities to promote positive behaviour patterns; raise self-esteem and improve independent working in students to assist in their education and growth
  • In liaison with the class teacher, contribute to the raising of the achievement of students in a class or year group and support them in making expected or better progress
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes where necessary
  • Assist in maintaining contact with students’ families/carers to inform them of progress, successes, and concerns
  • To contribute to the promotion of the well-being of students within the Academy
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of students you teach or students in the Academy
  • To promote and develop a positive culture and to ensure diversity within the Academy community is recognised, respected, and celebrated
  • Assist with extra-curricular activities for students as and when required and escort students on external Academy visits as required
  • Supervise and support students, maintaining good order and discipline and ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
  • Collate information and maintain records of student behaviour and progress using Bromcom (training will be provided)

Training

During this level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship you will promote self-belief, social inclusion and high self-esteem which will play an integral part to pupils’ wellbeing. You will become an essential part in the learning environment for the classroom teacher and pupils. Working to ensure pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing and safe environment. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum and expand their knowledge. TAs play a crucial role in supporting teachers and pupils. Your work can have a significant impact on the children's learning experiences, helping them to succeed academically and personally.

  • Milestone 5. Learning and Assessment Strategies - (Assessment procedures, feedback techniques, SEND Strategies and partnership working)
  • Milestone 6. Prep for End Point Assessment

Full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship.
