Leading IT Consultancy with offices in UK and Europe (Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland) is looking to recruit a permanent 1st Line Support/Helpdesk and Test Analyst to satisfy internal and client requirements. We deliver a range of services from IT Consultancy, Software Project Development and Application Support Services for our corporate clients covering Insurance, Retail, FMCG, Automotive, Logistics & Leasing, Publishing and Charity domains (including UN organizations) which are well-known names.

As OCS is part of an Employee Ownership Trust, after a qualifying period, the successful candidate will be able to contribute to the company's future vision and share in the profits.

The role is based in our office for five (5) days per week but some working from home once onboarded is negotiable, so you must be willing and able to commute to Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, WD61QQ.

This role will be primarily a split between 1st Line Support/Helpdesk working with both Infrastructure and software applications, Manual Testing duties will also be part of this role and would suit candidates from a technical background. You will prepare and execute manual system tests, you will need to adhere to proficiency in software testing techniques and testing tools. On the 1st Line Support/Helpdesk side you'll be working alongside our internal delivery managers as well as our head of infrastructure in order to respond as promptly as possible to our clients.

We are also looking for the successful individual to start learning more about AI as well as getting hands on with it and although not guaranteed there is the potential for AI training or an apprenticeship as part of this role.

Key skills to have:

  • Excellent proficiency in English with a wide vocabulary and strong grammar - mandatory
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, prepared to go the extra yard
  • An IT related or Technical degree would be preferential, but it is not essential if the candidate has been in an IT role for a minimum of 18 months
  • Competence in Microsoft Office packages/IT literate
  • Ability to support Windows Servers and Laptops
  • Helpdesk/1st line support experience
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Full, clean driving license and own transport would be a strong advantage
  • Passion for IT/ability to demonstrate a strong interest in IT (through studies, external projects/interests, work experience)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible, can-do attitude, capable of multitasking and resilient under pressure
  • Ability to form good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Nice to have skills:

  • Previous exposure to Helpdesk Support or Formal testing, as well as SQL knowledge is nice to have
  • Experience In software/application testing
  • Expertise in manual testing across Web, Client Server applications and Integration testing involving multiple Systems, would be nice to have but this is not essential
  • Basic SQL knowledge is a nice to have
  • SharePoint knowledge is a nice to have but willingness to work with SharePoint is essential, this role will require working with SharePoint on a regular basis and OCS will look to assist with hands on training if required

Main responsibilities of the successful candidate:

  • Ensure helpdesk system is kept up to date of the progress made with issues
  • System and infrastructure monitoring
  • Responsible for the stability and availability of applications within production environment
  • Collaborating closely with Developers and Project Manager and providing daily and weekly progress updates
  • Assisting with production support issues by acknowledging the customer's enquiry, maintaining the helpdesk system up to date and proactively monitoring progress and liaising with developers and customers as appropriate
  • Supporting the team with technical and non-technical documentation update
  • Support OCS' IT infrastructure (and clients as required)
  • Writing System Test plans and scripts for new functional application releases
  • Executing System and Regression test cycles, recording defects and re-test bug fixes
  • Facilitating User Acceptance Testing
  • Helping the team with any administrative task require
