IT Apprentice
Role
This role consists of building gaming PCs, either for stock, or built to order for customers. You will be provided with full training on PC hardware, enabling you to build PCs to customer specification and to provide second-to-none customer support, assisting customers with technical problems and returns.
You will support other areas of the department including testing, quality control, customisations and in addition, have exposure to all functions of the business helping you to develop a full understanding of how departments rely on and interact with each other.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Read and interpret detailed build specifications and customer requirements for custom-built PCs
- Select appropriate computer hardware components, including CPUs, GPUs, RAM, motherboards, power supplies, storage devices, and cooling systems
- Assemble computer systems, ensuring proper installation and connection of all components
- Conduct thorough testing of each PC build to ensure functionality, stability, and performance
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues that may arise during the build or testing process
- Install and configure operating systems, drivers, and software applications as per customer preferences
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, as well as accurate records of builds and components
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in PC hardware technology and industry trends
- Collaborate with team members to improve build processes, quality control, and efficiency
- Assist customers with technical enquiries and provide exceptional customer service
- Assist with inventory management for the ordering of hardware components when needed
Training
Velocity apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Using their expert knowledge, they will provide the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace and to expand future career prospects.
Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their programme.
Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 IT Support Technician qualification, with training in how to:
· Install and configure relevant software and hardware as appropriate for example: mobile apps, printers, projectors, scanners and cameras.
· Address IT issues by prioritizing in response to customer service level agreements.
· Administer security access requirements and permissions for stakeholders escalating as necessary for example password resets.
· Support the roll out of upgrades or new systems or applications.
